My name is Clive Windley and I live in Melbourne in the state of Victoria in Australia. I started the occasional collecting of beer labels back in approximately 1962, when I would take them off the bottle. I collected only labels that were available in Melbourne, because at that time beer from other states just wasn’t sold anywhere except where it was made. After I got married in 1969 I did not collect anything, and it wasn’t until around 1990, when I was given some new labels from Carlton & United Brewery products that my interest was rekindled. Since then I have been making up for lost time. I now collect the "whole world " in general, and Australian and New Zealand beer labels in particular. In about 1995 I started keeping printed crown seals, although it wasn’t until I got Internet access in April 1999 that I discovered that crown seals are a very, very big part of collecting, especially in overseas countries. In April 1997 I joined The Victorian Beer Label Collectors’ Society. This excellent club, with the friendliness of the members, the wealth of experience, the issue of labels with the newsletter, the dedication to the hobby and the readiness of people to help others makes the already enjoyable hobby even more so.
